After graduating from Texas Tech University in 1978, Joe began his investment consulting career with Prudential Securities in 1982. He then joined the senior investment consulting division at Smith Barney in 1994 with The Quantitative Group, an exclusive institutional consulting team with a renowned history. Upon going independent in 2004, Joe served as the CEO from 2004‐2010. The Quantitative Group focus on applying institutional consulting process to ultra‐high net worth individuals and institutions. Joe has over 35 years’ of experience in the financial services industry, the last eight at Morgan Stanley. Graystone Consulting is a unique combination of a boutique firm backed by the global resources of Morgan Stanley. In addition to earning the Series 7, 63, 65, he has earned his Certified Investment Management Analyst (CIMA) designation from the Wharton School of Business. This certification focuses on asset allocation, ethics, due diligence, risk measurement, investment policy and performance measurement. He served as a member of the Graystone Advisory Board from 2011‐2017. Joe is also a member of the Investments & Wealth Institute and the Association of Professional Investment Consultants (APIC).

Joe and his wife Susan have two sons, a daughter‐in‐law, and two granddaughters who they love spending time with. He enjoys golfing, working with horses, and other outdoor activities. He has several philanthropic interests such as: Boysville, which provides housing for at risk children; Healing with Horses, which is a therapeutic riding center that focuses on Equine Assisted Activities; and The First Tee of San Antonio, an international youth development organization introducing the game of golf and its inherent values to kids and teens. He has also served as the Investment Advisor for religious orders for over 30 years, helping to sustain their ongoing and ever‐changing needs and goals.
